Renting a storage unit gives you space to put all your stuff without having to clutter up your home. When you rent a storage unit, you are literally renting space. It is essential to ensure that you are efficiently using that space.

Way #1: Use the Walls & Air Space

When you rent a storage space, you want to utilize all the space inside of the unit. That means you will want to use up the wall and air space inside of the storage facility as well. There are multiple ways to use up the wall and air space. You can install pegboards on the walls so that you can hang up things such as tools or bags.

You can also install s-hooks that will allow you to hang things up on the walls. Or you can put in shelving units that will enable you to use more of the vertical air space inside your storage unit. You will have to use other devices, such as s-hooks, pegboards, and shelving, to use up as much of the space inside of your unit as possible.

Way #2: Stick to the Same Size Boxes

Second, another way to make the most of your space is by using only one or two sizes of boxes. Using only one or two box sizes will enable you to stack the boxes next to and on top of one another. You can determine if you can stack boxes on top of each other. Using the same size boxes will allow you to make the most of the space, as you will be able to stack and fit the boxes next to one another without worrying about losing too much space.

Way #3: Use Labels

Third, another way to make the most of your space is by using labels. Labeling only takes a minute or so for each box and will allow you to keep track of things and utilize your space as effectively as possible.

You are going to want to, at the very least, list what category each box belongs to, such as sports equipment, or kitchen gear, or winter clothing. It can be helpful to be more detailed and actually to list the contents of each box. Knowing each box's contents will help you keep things organized and put things together, which will allow you to keep your space functional.

Way #4: Create a Floor Plan

Fourth, it is essential to establish a floor plan. With a floor plan, you can determine where you want things to go, which will help you keep things organized and figure out how to use the space to your advantage.

When it comes to using your storage unit and making the most of the space, you will want to utilize the vertical space by using storage tools, such as hooks and shelves. Stick to the same size boxes to maximize space, use labels, and create a floor plan. These organizational strategies will allow you to make the most of the space you are renting to store your things.
